McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah (MACK)

Heritage Corridor Site

The McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah (MACK) occupies what was once the Keturah Hotel which was rebuilt in 1910 by W.J.Connors and named for his wife.  The original Carolina Hotel on this site burned in the late 1800’s.  Salesmen would stay at the Keturah and “drum” their wares.  One room on the main floor of the hotel used for this purpose is called “the drummer room.”  When you enter the MACK, you will be greeted by a salesperson in The Gallery, a gift shop of beautiful items designed and handcrafted by local artisans.  Each month there is a new exhibit on display in the main Gallery and quite often the Drummer Room.  The MACK has produced many events over the years such as concerts, summer art camps for the children of McCormick, painting and drawing classes, craft classes, juried art exhibits and much more.  The second floor houses studios for several local artists.  The third floor contains an apartment for the artists-in-residence.  For more information visit our website at www.the_mack.org.
