The Depot Library
Blackville was an overnight stop on one of the oldest railroads in the country, completed in 1833. This depot was erected around 1910 and was situated at the western end of Main Street. It was moved to the present location in 1985 and renovated to serve as a library. The building was well used as a depot for both passengers and shipping produce. After World War II, automotive travel and shipping lessened the need for the depot and the Southern Railroad Company closed the line through Blacksville. By 1994 almost all of the once vital track has been removed. You are invited to visit this beautiful Old Depot-Blacksville Library. While here search for your ancestors or do general research in the genealogy section!
