Michelle McCollum “I consider myself an American by the grace of God and a South Carolinian by choice. I can think of no other place in this country that I would rather live and raise my family. I love the people, I love the land, I treasure our heritage and I take enormous pride in working for an organization that works to protect each of these things. I always say that anyone can “do tourism” in

Devon Harris "Through working for the Heritage Corridor I have seen the consistent good we do in our rural communities. To see people’s joy and pride in their town blossom over the time we spend with them is very rewarding. I believe our organization, in addition to our funding and technical assistance, provides people with the hope it takes to recognize just how special their community is and the confidence to know they can improve it through heritage tourism development. To know we are making that difference is very exciting and keeps me motivated to do the best job I can for the people of this great state." |

Whitney Ellis "The reason that I love Heritage Tourism is it gives me a chance to fulfill two of my passions exploring through traveling and history. I was a history major so heritage tourism gives me a chance to share my love of all things old. I give this history to people in a way that makes them interested; not just repeating facts but making the facts a story of people, everyday life, love, hate, and sometimes death. The other half of my job is planning events and tours. I am helping people discover areas and places in the state that are new to them. I have a great job that is never dull; in a different county each week, helping places to become more successful in rural tourism." |

Anna Friar Joyner "There are a number of reasons why I love doing what I do. I love being able to convey an experience. Something memorable. Something that is meaningful. Of all the communities that we are involved in and all of the people I have been fortunate enough to meet and work with, it has left me with much respect and appreciation for where I came from. To hear all of the stories of years gone by, visiting all of the treasures of our area and creating and imposing all of those experiences to others, leaves me with great joy. It has been a remarkable journey thus far and I am anticipating the many years to come." |

Crystal Arnold “I work in Heritage Tourism to educate people about their heritage and their communities. If we do not teach people about our past, our future will never evolve. Everything we do today is because of something that happened in history. I want everyone to love their home towns whether they are small towns or big cities!” |

Dorothy Warren “Working for the SCNHC has allowed me the opportunity to meet people from all tracks of life, different parts of the country, different ethnic backgrounds and different languages. I enjoy meeting people that I have seen in our small town all of my life, yet never interacted with. I enjoy my job and look forward to learning more about the Corridor and what I am capable of. I’m taking on new responsibilities each week and that is a great challenge for me.” |
